Superman by Brandi Randolph

Baby, are you my superman?
In tight pants and a cape. Flying high above the urban neighborhoods showing the little children
"They can be superheros too"
Will you come to my rescue time and time again?
Can you use your Superman strength and envelope me in your arms?
Mr. Save the World, answer my questions.

Love, how long will you be away this time?
Cupping my tear stricken face in his hands, he sighs, "I don't know."
Who will you battle this time?
A fictional character, the government or police brutality?
Tell me something solid, something real. For the nights when your half way around the world Superman?
"I love you" he says. Deeply and sincerely , I feel it
My heart's beating overtime as he pulls me close, kisses my forehead, my smile, and smelling my hair.
"I love you too Superman."
He smiles at me and prepared for flight.
Up, up and away. Away from me.

King, saving the world is so important
But, I'm important too, right?
I think. Because I don't know. Tell me, am I ever second place?
So, I need you to hold me, and tell me
But your off
Saving the world
One day, at a time
