Poetry and Social engagement of street art and graffiti

Since arriving in Baltimore in July 2018, I have been fascinated by the local arts scene – a completely absent scene where I grew up. Mainly, I am drawn to the street art throughout the city, from the graffiti under bridges to the murals in West Baltimore. For my presentation, I highlighted the history of this form of art, along with some examples and influences. Most importantly, I wanted to highlight how poetry and social engagement are associated with street art, both individually and in tandem.
